The Madhya Kerala Diocese of Church of South India has launched a 7 year celebration of 200 years of mission leading up to the the bicentennial year of 2016, the year the first CMS missionaries arrived in Travancore. Canon Tim Dakin, ianugurated the celebration during a visit to the diocese on 18 February this year. He is seen here with Rt Revd Thomas Samuel (left), Bishop in Madhya Kerala, and Mr M.M. Philip (right), the new General Secretary of the Church of South India. The diocese has a strong CMS background and heritage and maintains a vigorous ongoing commitment to mission as it sends workers to many different areas of India. One important mission field if the Parkal Mission in Andhra Pradesh and a few years ago CMS provided a scholarship for one of its leaders, Anna John, to come for a period of study in UK. The is also the diocese of our very own Shemil Mathew.
